May 3: C.CRED - Walk,Talk,Eat,Talk Some More

The third and final leg of C.CRED's Walk,Talk,Eat,Talk Some More will take place on May 3rd in London. C.CRED write: "The final component of the event is a real-time concluding web-cast / video conference. This will take place on the evening of May 3, 6pm to 9pm (GMT) NB this time will be confirmed asap. All you need to take part is a computer and a web-cam. Technical details and on-line assistance will be provided to contributors before the event. This will be an occasion to meet 'virtually' in our different groups and discuss the project, and more specifically, the various potentials, problems and limits of the notion of post-autonomy. It will also offer an opportunity to come back to previous issues and questions."

C.CRED - Walk,Talk,Eat,Talk Some More

The first of three events in C.CRED's Walk,Talk,Eat,Talk Some More project takes place this week in London's East End. Yesterday's preparatory event included reading & discussion of Deleuze and Guattari’s ‘Of the Refrain’ (in ‘A Thousand Plateaus: Capitalism and Schizophrenia’).

Event #1 — London: Counter.Cartography Walk will take place tomorrow, Wed. - April 5, 2006. Here's the schedule:

3:30-11:30pm (although you can join at different stages through the program: 3pm, 6pm and 9pm).

3:30pm meet at Hackney Wick Station for info and drinks. 4:00 pm sharp, walk starts.
6:00pm stop for drinks and to pick up new walkers at Stratford Station.
6:30pm sharp, walk continues.
9:00pm, drinks at the Approach Tavern, Approach Road, Bethnal Green.

C.CRED writes: "NB! The walk has been extended from the original plans in the previous invite. You can still meet up with us for the second leg of the walk (6:00pm at Stratford Station as previously announced). However, the first leg of the walk, starts already at 3:30pm at Hackney Wick Station. The walking group will carry flag-like game pieces and place them in key locations along the walk where we stop for drinks and snacks and try to develop questions in relation to use and ownership, and the cultural and socio-political economies of space in the city, as an initial way to enter into a critical dialogue around various notions of "post-autonomy" (see http://www.postautonomy.co.uk for info and texts). You should be able to recognize us easily at each meeting place – we’ll be accompanied by a black dog with dreadlocks and caring bright blue Evident Use flags."

C.CRED describes the project as follows:

"Walk, Talk, Eat, Talk Some More is a multi-city, multi-day project in and between London, Philadelphia, Chicago, New York, Malmö, Portland, Stockholm, Tallinn, Berlin and San Francisco. The project is an experimental hybrid of similar work by Ccred & the 16 beavergroup (Counter Cartographies, Alt.Space), BASEKAMP & The Institute for Advanced Architecture (Evident Use), 0009 (platial) and the Bureau of Research into Post Autonomy.

The idea behind this series of events is to link a number of different cities in a critical dialogue around the very lose notion of "post-autonomy" and the more specific theme: how can we construct a practice in the discursive space of post-autonomy?

The program includes three interlinked components: a collective counter.cartography walk through our different contexts; an alt.space meal (supper, dinner, luncheon) taking place in our different cities and linking us through the questions we pose to one another; and a concluding discussion taking the form of a web-cast linking us in real-time dialogue."

Das erste Online Discursive Picnic wird mit Hilfe von WLAN und ichat TeilnehmerInnen von iRes in Falmouth, UK, mit UNWETTER in Berlin, Deutschland, zusammenbringen.

Zwischen den Rosehill Garden Studios, Woodlane Campus, University College Falmouth und dem Gemeinschaftsgarten „Rosa Rose“ in Friedrichshain wollen wir über Video-live-Schaltung Gedanken austauschen und miteinander über Präsentation, Produktion und Distribution von Kunst in urbanen und nicht-urbanen öffentlichen Räumen, innerhalb oder außerhalb von Institutionen reden.

iRes und UNWETTER laden alle Interessierten ein, an diesem Internet-Gedankenaustausch teilzunehmen und selbst Ideen, Essen, Fragen und Getränke mitzubringen, denn an den jeweiligen Sendeorten werden auch Offline-Picknicks stattfinden.

iRes and UNWETTER warmly welcome everyone to a special Open Research Meeting – an Online Discursive Picnic - that will take place simultaneously in Falmouth and in Berlin. Utilising current peer-to-peer collaboration technologies, participants in Falmouth will be able to communicate in real time with the UNWETTER group of artists, curators and theorists in Berlin.

The event will take place on 5th of April at 1.30pm under the canopies near the Rosehill Garden Studios, Woodlane Campus, University College Falmouth, and in the community garden “Rosa Rose” in Friedrichshain, Berlin. With the use of wireless connection and iChat facilities participants in Falmouth and Berlin will be able to discuss, mix ideas and thoughts about curating, production and distribution of art in urban and non-urban public spaces, outside or within institutions.

iRes and UNWETTER invite everybody to participate in this discussion and exchange and to bring along questions, food, ideas and drinks, as there will also be an offline-picnic.

This Discursive Picnic is being organised by iRes Research Assistant Magda Tyzlik-Carver and UNWETTER. It is technically supported by iRes Technologist Tim Shear and by www.freifunk.net.
